Head Varsity Softball Coach

Choate Rosemary Hall seeks a head varsity softball coach. Though the active sports season for the 2017-18 academic year is March through May, 2018, some duties in support of the team and program will begin in fall 2017. Candidates should have experience coaching competitive softball players at the high school or college level and be committed to skill development for the team as a whole and its individual players.

Applicants must be dynamic individuals who are passionate about their sport, collaborative and innovative in their approach to coaching, and who embrace and support the diversity of our student body. Our coaches are deeply committed to the entire student experience; it is expected that the successful applicant will recognize and embrace that athletics are one important aspect of a total educational experience for our students in a unique residential context.

Duties include planning and execution of daily practices in season, coaching during scheduled contests, collaboration with assistant coaches, and working in concert with the Athletics Department in support of team needs (injury prevention and rehabilitation, equipment, uniforms, schedules, logistics, sports information). The head coach will also work with coaches at the sub-varsity level to create a developmental approach to the softball program at Choate, helping to evaluate other coaches as appropriate.

The head coach is responsible for identifying and working with applicants to Choate Rosemary Hall who can contribute to the softball program, working with colleagues in Athletics and Admission to support the admission process, including meeting with applicants who visit campus, promoting the program, and communicating in a timely and thorough way with both applicants and their families and Admission colleagues throughout the admission cycle.

Coaches are expected to attend to all communication and administrative details, including term-end reports for student athletes, in a timely way.
