Prospective Students
Do You have a Passion for Academics?
Thinking of Attending Choate?
Would you like an opportunity to create a new molecule for pharmaceutical research, discuss monetary policy with the Federal Reserve Chairman, and represent the United States in an International Physics or Mathematics Olympiad? Our extracurricular academic opportunities abound.
In 2005-06 Choate had both a Finalist and Semifinalist in the prestigious 2005-06 Siemens Westinghouse Competition in Math, Science & Technology. In December our Finalist was awarded a $50,000 scholarship and placed second nationally. He has since been selected as a Finalist in the 65th Intel Science Talent Search.
Choate’s Science Research Program provides motivated and independent students the opportunity to practice true laboratory science and mentor at a university lab. Our Mathematics Team has ranked first in the Greater New Haven Mathematics League for the 11th consecutive year. Choate is the first school ever to have three students qualify for the 2003 US Physics Olympiad Team. One of the three received a silver medal at the International Physics Olympiad held in Singapore and was the highest scoring female in the world. Choate’s Fed Challenge Team is a traditional powerhouse having won the New England regional title seven times in the Federal Reserve Bank’s national economics competition for high school students.
