What is the profile of an admitted student? Hide

It is very difficult to provide a profile of an average admitted student as our admissions process is subjective. Our admissions staff takes great time and care to understand each individual applicant within the context of their environment. However, in an effort to provide some guidance, the majority of students entering in the third or fourth forms (9 th or 10 th grade) have SSAT’s in the mid 80's and grade point averages of about 3.7. The majority of our older students maintain similar grades and a median SAT score of roughly 1300. Please understand that there is no minimum requirement with regard to test scores and that the admissions staff views a student’s highest score on each portion of the test regardless of the number of times a student tests. In many cases, students whose profiles do not fall within our median range are admitted if we feel the student has the work ethic and intelligence needed to succeed at Choate.
