Thinking of Attending Choate?
With more than 81 interscholastic teams, there's a level at which you can compete. Our teams have recently won:
- eight Founders League championships — girls basketball, girls and boys swimming, golf, boys tennis, girls track and field, and boys and girls soccer
- three Western New England championships — boys swimming and girls and boys soccer
- the Founders Cup was won by the boys crew team, a first-ever in Choate history!
You can be a part of our proud history of our distinguished alumni-athletes competing at the college level:
- Caroline Bourdeau '05, a three-sport varsity Choate athlete scored the first goal in BU women's hockey history
- Steve Curwen, Bowdoin ’06, Baseball, and Kendall Cox ’01, Bowdoin ’05, Women’s Lacrosse made NESCAC’s 2005 Spring All-Academic Team. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.
Competing beyond college:
- Ice hockey Olympians Angela Ruggiero '98 (Harvard ’04), Julie Chu '01 (Harvard ’06), Kim Insalaco '99 (Brown’03) , and Robert McVey '54 (Harvard ’58)
- Professional triathlete, Dede Trimble Griesbauer '88 (Stanford ’92) who finished 6th among all woman in the grueling 2004 Hawaii Ironman Triathlon
- Cincinnati Reds player, Chris Denorfia '98, (Wheaton College, Ill.), is the first alumnus to make it all the way to the major leagues
- Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers center-guard , (Virginia Tech ’93) turned coach, Jim Pyne '85 played 9 NFL Seasons
