The Facilities

Worthington Johnson Athletic Center (WJAC) — Equivalent to two city blocks in length, the WJAC includes two basketball courts, international squash courts, a wrestling room, and three courts which can be used for tennis or volleyball; a suspended 1/10 mile indoor track and an ergometric training room for crew.

The 2002 addition to the Athletic Center includes a state-of-the-art fitness center, an athletic training room, additional international squash courts, and space for aerobics and dance.

Shanahan Field — A multi-field, multi-sport athletic complex, it boasts two turf fields, stadium seating and lights. The fields are designed to accommodate lacrosse, field hockey, soccer and football.

The facility is used for daily field hockey and lacrosse practices, as well as stage football and soccer contests under the lights. The field is named in honor of former headmaster Edward J. Shanahan.

Hunt Tennis Center — 22 tennis courts, a clubhouse, and two offices for coaches. Additional tennis courts available on Rosemary Lane.

Larry Hart Pool — 25-meter, 8-lane, solar-heated pool with two 1-meter springboards and an electronic timing system.

William C.S. Remsen Arena and Hockey Rink — best ice anywhere along with state-of-the-art lockers and team rooms.

Bruce '45 and Lueza Gelb Track — a new 8-lane synthetic running track enclosing a natural grass infield. There are dedicated spaced for the jumping events (high jump, pole vault, long jump and triple jump). An adjacent field hosts throwing events such as discus, javelin and shot put.

Fields of Play — various athletic fields throughout the campus for both interscholastic and intramural play, the cross country course located on upper campus and the Sylvester Boathouse located on Lake Quonnipaug for crew team practice, provide a strong foundation of support for any athletic endeavor.
