Human Resources

Our objective is to support the overall goals of the school by fostering and maintaining a productive and informed staff workforce. The HR staff strives to provide courteous, timely, accurate, and dependable service in employment opportunities, compensation, and administration and communication of all benefits. That goal also applies to record-keeping, performance management, training and continuing education, and employee relations. Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, worker’s compensation and the development, communications and implementation of employment policies and procedures are also the responsibility of this department.

The HR office is located in the Ruutz-Rees building (104 Rosemary Lane). Regular office hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is closed for all school-recognized holidays. For the current holiday schedule, please refer to the Holiday Schedule. Meet the Staff

Deborah Sze-Tu Chin
Debbie received a BA in English Literature from Queens College ’75. She began her career at Choate in 1990 as Administrative Secretary reporting to the Director of Summer Programs, transferring over to Human Resources in 1992 as Payroll/Benefits Bookkeeper, 1997 as HR Administrator, and subsequently named Manager of HR in 1998. She is responsible for the overall operations of the HR function including recruitment, orientation, benefits, compensation, performance appraisal, training, and employee relations for staff.

Mary Ellen Skorzewski
New to our school and department, Mary Ellen brings with her a wealth of experience in payroll, human resources, and finance. She is responsible for administering the payroll functions, communicating and resolving any employee-related issues. A graduate of Middlesex Community College, with an A.S. degree in Biology, Mary Ellen also provides administrative support to other members of the HR department as needed.

Grace Sullivan
Grace received a BA in Sociology from New England College ’76. As the HR Administrator, Grace is responsible for benefits administration, recruitment and new hire orientation. She has been enthusiastically serving the needs of our faculty and staff since July 1998.
