Campus Visit

Summer 2021

If you have not already, please complete our Inquiry Form. Upon completing the inquiry form, students receive invitations to register for the campus visit, as well as invitations to our virtual interviews and events. Campus visit registrants will receive further details about the information below.

We are pleased to offer campus visits this summer! Campus visits begin with a 1-1 tour of campus led by a Gold Key Student Ambassador. Upon returning from the tour, families will have the option to attend a short, group Q&A session led by a member of the Admission Team.

In order to keep our community as safe and healthy as possible in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, all visitors to campus are required to:

  1. Register in advance
  2. Complete a health screening
  3. Upon arrival, provide a copy or photo of your fully completed COVID-19 Vaccination Card* or a copy or photo of a negative PCR test**

Visitors will also be required to wear a mask throughout the duration of their visit. All admission personnel will be abiding by the same restrictions.

Visitors should abide by CDC Travel Guidelines for domestic and international travel to campus. Please check the CDC website prior to scheduling your campus visit date.

*Full COVID-19 Vaccinations must be administered at least two weeks prior to your scheduled campus visit.
**Negative PCR tests must be administered within 72 hours of your scheduled campus visit.

Complete the online Inquiry Form to receive personal invitations to the campus visit, as well as invitations to our virtual interviews and events. To learn more about our campus, navigate our virtual campus tour. For the most up-to-date information about our community, we encourage you to Experience Choate Today.

To learn how to complete your application to Choate, including your admission interview, see Admission Process.

As part of the admission process, we would like to invite you to visit our campus for a tour and an interview.

Your tour and interview gives you the chance to get to know us a bit better, and for us to get to know you, too.

We encourage all families to visit us in Wallingford, if that is possible. If you’re unable to come to campus, we encourage interested families to visit with us at one of our many off-campus admission events. Off-campus interviews for applicants can be arranged with alumni and parent volunteers. Complete the online Inquiry Form to receive personal invitations to our on and off-campus interviews and events.

As an applicant, you should look at your interview as an opportunity for you to offer a more complete picture of yourself than you can give us on the application. We know there is always more to learn, and we look forward to the opportunity to meet you face to face.

  • How you present yourself matters – making a great first impression should be the goal when you visit us on campus.
  • Our interviewers tend to ask questions that require a bit of self-reflection: thoughts about your interests, your personality, your goals, and more. To prepare, think about your future before your visit.
  • We want to hear questions from you, too, so be sure to have some ready for our interviewer about Choate, our programs, our community… anything!

After your interview is finished, we invite your parents to join in conversation with the interviewer. Again, questions are welcome!

All Choate interviews, whether with admission officers, faculty members, or alumni in your area, are considered comparably in the admission process. Interviews, or as we like to think of them, guided conversations, are both informative and evaluative and one piece in a larger puzzle. If face to face interviews cannot be scheduled, we may invite applicants to Skype, FaceTime, or speak over the phone. The Admission Office will not honor the request for specific interviewers.

When you arrive on campus, we will welcome you to Archbold, the home of the Admission Office. You’ll have a chance to visit with some of our student ambassadors, and perhaps meet other families who are applying to Choate.

Each prospective family is assigned a student guide and enjoys a walking tour of the campus. Our tour guides are well versed in all things Choate and are ready to answer your questions about our School.
