Alumni Awards Presented to Dr. Daniel J. Carucci ’76 and Ambassador Victoria J. Nuland ’79

At yesterday's school meeting, Headmaster Alex D. Curtis presented the 2012 Alumni Awards to Dr. Daniel J. Carucci ’76, President Global Health Consulting, Inc., and Ambassador Victoria J. Nuland ’79, U.S. State Department Spokesperson and former United States Ambassador to NATO. Dr. Carucci met with students afterwards to discuss his career in medicine and his groundbreaking research in the completion of the Malaria Genome project. Commencement will take place on the lawn in front of Archbold at 10:00 am on Sunday, June 3. Additional seating will be available in the Paul Mellon Arts Center with a live-feed of the ceremony.

Choate Aces American Mathematics Contest (AMC 12)

The results of February’s American Mathematics Contest (AMC 12), the premier math competition in the United States, have just been announced. Choate’s team had the highest combined score of all participating schools. with over 72,000 students from more than 2,600 schools taking the test.

Three Alumnae Selected for 2012 U.S. Women’s National Ice Hockey Team

On April 1, USA Hockey announced the 23 players who will make up its U.S. Women's National Team for the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship, which runs from April 7-14 in Burlington, Vt. Team USA has won the last three world championships (2008, 2009, 2011). Among the 23 players on the final roster are three Choate Rosemary Hall alumnae—forwards Julie Chu ’01 and Hilary Knight ’07 and defenseman Josephine Pucci ’09.

2012 Charles Krause '51 Fellow in Rhetoric, Author and Journalist Isabel Wilkerson

Isabel Wilkerson, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of The New York Times’ bestseller, The Warmth of Other Suns, spoke to students and faculty on Tuesday, April 10. Her book won the 2010 National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction. It tells the story of the massive demographic shift that occurred between 1915 and 1970 when more than 6 million African-Americans moved out of the South to cities across the Northeast, Midwest and West. Four-time Olympian Angela Ruggiero ’98 to Speak at Commencement
