Fifth Former Nicole McGuigan '18 rallied boys and girls varsity ice hockey teammates to play in a charity game for the Gaylord Sports Association's Wolfpack Sled Hockey team on Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Remsen Arena.
The Connecticut Wolfpack is the only hockey team in Connecticut for people with physical disabilities. The event raised more than $8,000 for the Wolfpack Sled team.
In an interview with the Record-Journal, Nicole explained, "Hockey is my passion, helping people completes me." She had previously volunteered with a Long Island sled hockey team. When she got to Choate, she said, "There's a local sled hockey team here, let's do something with them." With the help of her varsity teammates and her parents, she raised over $8,000, which will all go to the Sports Association to help defray the Wolfpack team's cost for ice time, jerseys, league dues, and travel to tournaments.
