Dido and Aeneas - An Opera

On Saturday, February 25, and Sunday, February 26, vocal students performed an updated version of "Dido and Aeneas" an opera by Henry Purcell based on Virgil's Aeneid. Purcell's opera, first performed at a girls' boarding school in London in 1689, was transposed for today's audience, set in the mythical world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Choate alumnus and opera performer, Kurt Willett '81, who performed in Choate's 1978 production of Dido and Aeneas, coached students in this current production conducted by Choate music teacher Alysoun Kegel.
