This Day in History Nov. 8, 1960

November 8, 2016 marks the 56th anniversary of a historic presidential election. Choate alumnus, John F. Kennedy '35, U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, beat incumbent Vice President Richard M. Nixon to become the 35th President of the United States. In a presidential straw poll conducted at The Choate School in 1960, Nixon was favored to win; only 18 percent of Choate students voted for Kennedy.
