Parents are important partners in supporting Choate students, day in and day out. Whether parents hail from around the globe, or around the corner, we encourage them to connect with the campus community.
Several campus events, including Opening Days, Parents’ Weekend and College Information Weekend, provide opportunities for parents to spend time on campus with their children, to connect with faculty members and other families, and to shape their own Choate memories. More casual visits are encouraged too, and it is not unusual to see many parents on the sidelines at athletics events, or in the audience for student concerts and productions.
Choate’s Parent Relations Office is dedicated to making the parent experience a positive one. Among the many resources it provides is the online Parents Portal. This website offers real-time access to student information, campus photos, a parent guide, important forms, calendars, schedules and more. Parents can even check Wallingford weather or order a sweet-treat to send to their child. The Parents Portal also makes it easier to connect with other parents through our Parent-to-Parent network.
At Choate, parents are well represented by the Parents Advisory Council (PAC). This parent group, selected to reflect the diversity of our student population, is charged with providing timely and substantive feedback to the school’s leadership and with communicating information and initiatives to other parents through a variety of programs and resources. PAC members also help with outreach to new Choate families and join the Parent Relations Office in hosting parent gatherings throughout the year.
