At school meeting on Wednesday, September 17, National Book Award finalist Julie Otsuka gave readings from her novel, When the Emperor Was Divine. The novel was this year's assigned summer reading for all students. The author's visit was sponsored by the English department.

On June 7, the Choate Rosemary Hall community gathered to celebrate faculty and staff reaching their 25-year milestones and those retiring from the School. Among those retiring after 42 years and 37 years of service, respectively, faculty members David and Barbara Webb. Also retiring, were staff members James Fleming, Kathleen Kirschmann and Barbara Makuck, and faculty member Tom Day after 26 years of service. Faculty member Diana Beste and Facilities Services staff members Dave Seitlinger and Wes Willard each reached their 25-year milestone, as well as faculty members Ned Gallagher, Nancy Miller and Beth Peters. Choate Volunteer Corps Blog From Rwanda

Six students on Choate Summer Programs’ service learning trip tp Sonrise School, in Musanze, Rwanda, are blogging about their experiences. Check out their blog here. The students, accompanied by Choate faculty member Jim Yanelli, are helping the Sonrise School transition to an e-text library and working with its technology conversion. The school’s seamstress is making covers for the Nook readers recently donated to the schoolchildren.
