After Class and Weekends
From athletics, to the arts, to community service, to movies at the Student Activities Center, life after class at Choate is just as diverse and interesting as the classroom curriculum. The Paul Mellon Arts Center comes alive with rehearsals and practice. Teams of students "take the field," participating in 23 interscholastic sports and a host of intramural teams and activities. Some students spend their afternoons volunteering at a variety of nearby agencies, including the Red Cross, the YMCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Habitat for Humanity.

The Student Activities Center (the SAC), a focal point of campus life, is a busy place. The post office and school store are located there, and it’s also home to the Tuck Shop – the cyber café with snacks ranging from traditional cheeseburgers and sodas, to quesadillas, Caesar salad shakes, and fruit smoothies. Ping-pong and pool tables, air hockey, Foosball, and Play Stations are also popular SAC attractions.
Weekends are a time for relaxing and unwinding – but that doesn't mean activities grind to a halt. Weekends are sports time, too, from open swim time at the Larry Hart Pool or a pick-up game of softball on Memorial Field to varsity football, basketball, or baseball – and many more.
Movies are frequently shown on campus, and transportation is provided to and from local multiplex cinemas as well as nearby shopping malls.
