Mainstream and innovative options are offered in 5-week programs in the areas of Art, College Prep, English, History and Social Studies, Languages, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Science.

#2 Theater Arts Institute (4-weeks) and Documentary Filmmaking* (2-weeks)
These vibrant programs offer a total theater immersion experience for those interested on life on the stage or, if you are more comfortable behind the camera, a 2-week introduction to documentary filmmaking from expert practitioners in the field.

Institute for Girls

#3 The John F. Kennedy '35 Institute in Government was established to honor the memory of President Kennedy, a member of Choate's Class of 1935. It is designed to stimulate your curiosity about public policy and your desire to serve the public interest.

A key activity is the 5-day stay in Washington, D.C., meeting with officials from all three branches of government as well as representatives of interest groups, national political parties, and the media.

#4 Study Abroad offers 5-week study programs in China, France, or Spain that extend beyond the classroom with family homestays, language immersion and visits to historic landmarks ensuring an authentic cultural experience. (For students entering 10 – 12.)

Newfound independence and self-confidence are just two of the benefits of international travel.

#5 Math and Science Workshops*
Two-week programs in pre-Calculus, Calculus, Chemistry, or Physics that will help you improve your skills and get ahead in your coursework. With small classes of just 5-8 students, your teachers can give you considerable individual attention.

#6 Writing Workshops*
An intensive 2-week program focused on the creative and critical essay that will advance your writing skills, including preparation for your college application essays. Small classes allow for extensive teacher feedback.

#7 The English Language Institute gives English language learners (who have studied English for at least 3 years) a rigorous 5-week program designed to improve their English proficiency through interactive reading, writing and speaking activities. Creative and experiential learning takes place in the classroom and extends to field trips, including a 3-day trip to New York City.
