Program

CT Scholars is a summer program that invites talented and motivated middle school and high school students from Connecticut 's public schools to attend Choate Rosemary Hall. The classes are varied and the faculty/student ratio is 1:10 . Our summer resident faculty is comprised of Choate teachers as well as an excellent group of educators from private and public schools who are committed to teaching. As members of the Choate Summer community, CT Scholars students receive individualized attention, live as part of a residential community of faculty and students from around the world and benefit from a wide range of extracurricular activities. The combination of a rigorous academic curriculum and a supportive and nurturing residential community provides an environment in which students and teachers learn from each other.

This program is a collaborative effort funded by school districts, corporate and foundation giving, and financial aid from Choate Summer Programs along with minimal family and student contribution.

Criteria

Candidates should show academic talent and interest in advancing their studies. They should not only demonstrate a high level of ability in their school curriculum but a high level of curiosity, motivation, determination and achievement. Candidates should exhibit the maturity, social skills, sense of responsibility, independence and self-discipline necessary to benefit from a boarding school experience.

How Do You Become A CT Scholar?

Each year new scholars are selected on the basis of demonstrated ability and motivation, as well as a high level of curiosity and achievement in all disciplines with emphasis in mathematics, science and history. The faculty committees in each of the participating high schools make the selection. If you are interested in applying to become a CT Scholar, see your guidance counselor or contact me for more information.
