Theater
Students are encouraged to develop a respect and love for theatrical technique, while empowering them to discover their unique artistic voice and process.
A wide variety of theater classes cover every aspect of performance—including costume, set, sound and lighting design, and production.
Annually, the theater program has 3 Main Stage productions including the spring musical; a second fall production in another venue that may be anything from a children’s musical to a Shakespeare play; and multiple student-run productions that include the Choate Fringe Festival, One Person Plays, Directing Scenes, and more.
Rehearsals are spent delving into research, building the ensemble, exploring the text, creating the characters, and addressing the performance style of the piece.
The theater program seeks to connect the themes within the text to the aesthetic of the performance and the lives of the audience. The result? A rich performance of storytelling that engages and uplifts every participant.
