Meet this year's fall captains, they are prepared and excited to lead their teams this season.

Boys Varsity Water Polo

George McCabe '20

Captain of Boys Varsity Water Polo

George is from Ashburn, VA, he competes for both the boys water polo and boys swim teams. His favorite tradition is Choate President's Day. He is excited about the new players this year on the team and is looking forward to leading and mentoring them. George is hopeful that the team can make New England's this year. George's fun fact is that he is an avid podcast listener.


Derek Son '20

Captain of Boys Varsity Water Polo

Derek is from Calabasas, CA, at Choate he plays water polo and ultimate frisbee, and swims for the swim team. His favorite Choate tradition is the pep rally the night before Deerfield Day. He is excited about the team this year and how his teammates are passionate about the sport of water polo. With new and enthusiastic returners, Derek believes the team will have a successful season. Derek's fun fact is that he played ice hockey for seven years before attending Choate.


Hilal Zoberi '20

Captain of Boys Varsity Water Polo

Hilal is from Wallingford, CT, he is a part of both the Choate water polo and swim teams. His favorite tradition is Commencement and all of the festivities of that happen that weekend. He loves the passion and dedication that everyone on his team has for the sport of water polo. Hilal is looking forward to playing Deerfield and hopeful to come out victorious. Hilal's fun fact is that he learned to read before he talked.


Girls Varsity Soccer

Cecilia (CiCi) Curran '20

Captain of Girls Varsity Soccer

CiCi is from McLean, VA, she participates in Choate soccer. Her favorite Choate tradition is Deerfield Day, she enjoys how it brings the entire school community together. What she loves about the girls soccer team is pregame huddle pep talk and warm up phrases. With a lot of new players and returning players trying new positions she is looking forward to watching how the team grows more confident with the new combinations. She believes they are set to have a great season this year. Cici's fun fact is that she loves pugs but since she can't have a dog, she has 11 pug-related things in her dorm room at Choate including t-shirts,mugs and socks, just to name a few.


Boys Varsity Soccer

Stephen Antogiovanni '20

Captain of Boys Varsity Soccer

Stephen is from Middletown, CT, he has played varsity soccer all four years at Choate. His favorite Choate tradition is Deerfield Day and the pep rally the night before. He loves the hard work ethic that his team has and the family-like bonds that they share. He refers to his team as his home away from home. Stephen is excited about being a captain this season and leading with positivity and enthusiasm. Stephen's fun fact is that he repeated his 3rd form year at Choate.


Samuel Curtis '20

Captain of Boys Varsity Soccer

Sam is from Wallingford, CT, he plays varsity soccer and squash here at Choate. His favorite tradition is the pep rally the night before Deerfield Day. He really loves the passion, camaraderie, and hard working spirit of this year's boys varsity soccer team. This season, he is looking forward to the game against Deerfield. Sam's fun fact is that he has dual citizenship from both the United States and Great Britain.


Allen Zhang '21

Assistant Captain Boys Varsity Soccer

Allen is from Glastonbury, CT, he plays varsity soccer here at Choate. His favorite tradition is Deerfield Day, he loves the energy and school spirit that is displayed every year. Since his 3rd form year he has been apart of the soccer program here at Choate and attributes much of his positive Choate experience to the team whether it be on the soccer field or in the classroom.. He attributes the team's success to the sense of family, which he loves, and that everyone plays for each other. Allen is looking forward to improving as a team and achieving the goal they set for themselves as soon as last season ended which is a NEPSAC Class A championship. These past two years they have made it to the playoffs, an impressive feat in itself, but are confident in a big win because of the team's strength this year. Allen's fun fact is that his favorite food is curly fries, he says that the ones at the Tuck Shop are actually quite good!


Girls Varsity Volleyball

Charis "Kiki" Kim '20

Captain of Girls Varsity Volleyball

Kiki is from San Francisco, CA, she plays volleyball, archery and manages boys volleyball. Her favorite Choate tradition is Deerfield Day. She loves having the tight-knit volleyball team with all of their superstitions and game day traditions. She is excited for the season to start, working with the new members of the varsity team as well as hanging up a banner at the end of the season. Kiki's fun fact is that she has played every position in volleyball except for middle.


Ally Chadha '20

Captain of Girls Varsity Volleyball

Ally is from Avon, Connecticut, she plays volleyball and golf here at Choate. Her favorite Choate tradition is Deerfield Day because of all the school spirit and fans that attend all home games. Her favorite volleyball-specific tradition is their special, superstitious chant that they close practice with on the night before game days (it's called Itten Bitten). One thing that she loves about volleyball is how small the team is. They have less than 15 girls on their team which allows for great connections and a lot of fun as a tight-knit group. This season she is looking forward to the home match against Exeter because last season they lost to them in the semifinals of playoffs and she wants revenge! Ally's fun fact is that she had never tried a real burger in her life until Burger Thursday at Choate last year.

Varsity Football

Beau Luther '20

Captain of Varsity Football

Beau is from Edina, Minnesota, at Choate he plays football and hockey. His favorite Choate tradition is Deerfield Day. He loves the family-like culture that the football team has and that all players work hard in practice and compete at the highest level on game days. He is really looking forward to this season as it is his senior year. Beau's fun fact is that he has two fake teeth.


Cameron Polemeni-Hegarty '20

Captain of Varsity Football

Cameron is from Goldens Bridge, NY, he participates on the football, wrestling and track & field teams here at Choate. His favorite Choate tradition is singing the School Song after a football victory. He loves the family atmosphere that the football team has. He is looking forward to working hard with his teammates to hopefully achieve their goals for the season. Cameron's fun fact is that his family has 5 cats, but he does not like cats.


Girls Cross Country

Sarah McAndrew '20

Captain of Girls Cross Country

Sarah is from Cheshire, CT, she participates on the cross country, swimming and lacrosse teams. Her favorite Choate tradition is the pep rally Deerfield Day. She loves coming back to school and the excitement of seeing her teammates. She is looking forward to the cross country team's trip to Lyman Orchards, the team will go for a short run and then participate in team bonding activities while enjoying delicious treats from the bakery there. Sarah's fun fact is that a couple of years ago she won One Direction tickets.


Aisha Pasha '20

Captain of Girls Cross Country

Aisha is from Cheshire, CT, she runs cross country for Choate. Her favorite Choate tradition is both the pep rally before Deerfield Day and Choate President's Day. She loves her teammates on the cross country team, they are all dedicated and supportive. The team has become her family, she is close to every runner and truly cares for each of them. She is looking forward to running with both incoming athletes to the team and returners. Cross Country has a heavy home schedule and Aisha is excited to have lots of opportunities to run on the Choate course during her last season. Aisha's fun fact is that she loves Panera mac & cheese.


Field Hockey

Gina Driscoll '20

Captain of Girls Varsity Field Hockey

Gina is from Orange, CT, she plays field hockey, hockey and lacrosse here at Choate. Her favorite Choate tradition is the pep rally before Deerfield Day. She enjoys the field hockey practices when they play music and is looking forward to the team bonding over the course of the season. Gina's fun fact is that she first picked up a field hockey stick at tryouts 4th form year.


Brooke Wise '20

Captain of Girls Varsity Field Hockey

Brooke is from Dorset, VT, she plays field hockey, lacrosse and manages girls ice hockey. Her favorite tradition here at Choate is Deerfield Day. She loves the team dynamic and wide range of players (grade, diversity, and skill level). She is looking forward to being a senior leader on the team and passing down team traditions and skills to new players. Brooke's fun fact is that she loves to backcountry ski.


Boys Cross Country

Brenan Connell '20

Captain of Boys Cross Country

Brennan is from Wallingford, CT, he runs cross country in the fall for Choate. His favorite Choate tradition is the Pep rally before Deerfield Day. He loves the fact that on the cross country team both JV and Varsity practice together. He believes practicing as one team allows new runners to meet everyone and it encourages healthy competition on the team. He is looking forward to their home heavy schedule this fall and the advantages it will bring the team. Brennan's fun fact is that he never ran on a team before Choate.


Nick Surfas '20

Captain of Boys Cross Country

Nick is from Laguna Beach, CA, he runs cross country and plays volleyball in the spring. He loves the camaraderie of the cross country team and is looking forward to leading the team and developing the new runners. Nick's fun fact is that he loves to surf and skimboard.

Alex is from Madison, CT, he runs cross country and plays tennis at Choate.
