Samantha Gallo '19 of Northford, Conn., reached 1,000 points in her Choate career Thursday evening, during the team's 61-31 home win over Cheshire Academy. Samantha is the 5th female basketball player and the 8th overall basketball player of any gender, to reach this milestone. She came into the game with 985 career points, and was able to achieve the coveted 1,000-point mark in addition to 17 points total for the game.
With 2:00 minutes into the second half, Gallo was fouled going to the basket for a lay up. When she made her first free throw from the line, excitement began to build and then with the second she clinched her 1,000 point. With her coach calling a timeout, Gallo was able to celebrate with her teammates, fans, and coaches.
Samantha joins her teammate Jocelyn Polansky '19 who reached her 1,000-point milestone earlier in this season, and three other alumnae, including this year's 2019 Hall of Fame Inductee, Claire Sullivan '04, in this exclusive club. Before Choate Gallo attended Mercy High School where she played two seasons before transferring in 2016.
Sam is a three-year power forward for the Choate basketball team who has been selected to the All-New England team her sophomore and junior.
Gallo will continue her basketball career next year at The University of New Hampshire.
