Choate Hosts First-Ever All-Girls Wrestling Quad Match

History was made in Wallingford, Connecticut on Saturday, January 31, with the first-ever all-girls quadrangual wrestling meet in New England Prep School (NEPSAC) history.

Phillips Academy (Andover), Phillips Exeter, and Northfield Mount Hermon joined host Choate Rosemary Hall for a series of dual meets between their respective teams. Today’s event marked the first-ever girls dual meet for NMH and the first win in a girls dual meet for Phillips Exeter, with their win over NMH.

Defending New England Prep champion Choate went 3-0 on the day, with Andover 2-1, Exeter 1-2, and NMH 0-3. Numerous wrestlers ranked among the best in National Prep took part in the meet, including Choate’s Olivia Mancha '28, Lily Runez '26, Tatiana Irizarry '27, Sara McLaughlin '26, Leanne La '26, Chloe Ross '29, Sofia Seymour '29, Eva Tumanyan '28 and Rheema Woolcock '28, Phillips Academy’s Serra Akiyali, Ophelia Lee, Tasha Bohorod, Bella Shmuylovich and Toni Elliot, Phillips Exeter’s Anvi Murarka, and NMH’s Morgan Roney and Niyala Curley.

In January 2024, Phillips Academy hosted Choate in the first all girls dual meet ever in NEPSAC, and in February 2025, Phillips Academy and Phillips Exeter staged the first dual in their storied rivalry. The girls now head into the post-season, with the Class A Tournament at Hyde on February 6th, the Phillips Academy Tournament February 8th, the New England Prep tournament at Greens Farms Academy on February 14, and the National Prep Tournament at Lehigh University on February 20-21.
