Goal: To raise capital funds to support current program needs
We will invest in enhanced academic, extracurricular, and residential life programming to meet the needs of our students and we will allocate important resources to support the health and wellness of the campus community

With a Choate education, our graduates will be well-prepared, active citizens equipped with the drive, initiative, critical-thinking skills, and imagination to become leaders and advocates for positive change in the future. Our graduates will make a real and lasting difference in their communities, in their professions, and in the global society in which we all live.

When it comes to educating the brightest young minds with an experience that is both innovative and nurturing, cost shouldn’t be a factor. Economic barriers must be overcome. Affordability directly affects our capacity to assemble a cohesive yet diverse community each year, one that is composed of creative, passionate, and intellectually curious students from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Funding Opportunity: Beyond the Classroom

Goal: To ease the financial burden of experiential opportunities associated with academic, athletic, and extracurricular experiences which come with a cost beyond tuition and fees
Beyond the Classroom funds, which are available to all Choate students, ensure that students are able to participate fully in the Choate Rosemary Hall experience regardless of a family’s financial circumstances
More than 220 students access this fund annually, and there remains considerable unsupported demand

Funding Opportunity: Equity & Inclusion

Goal: To endow the work of the Office of Equity & Inclusion, who are charged with creating a school-wide approach to diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence
Named to honor the legacy of the first Black American student who attended The Choate School, The Ralph J. Bunche, Jr. ’61 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Fund bolsters the resources available to allow Equity & Inclusion work to continue to grow and flourish
Through day-to-day activities, curriculum, and school-wide celebrations, the Office of Equity & Inclusion seeks to raise awareness and encourage understanding of differences

Educating and caring for adolescents today is a resource-intensive endeavor that requires a complex balance of innovative curricular and extracurricular experiences, coupled with an ability to support comprehensive growth and character development.

Funding Opportunity: Ensuring Accessibility to a Choate Education

Goal: Set tuition in such a way that more families can afford Choate, making our financial aid resources stretch further
Through aggressive budgeting and planning, tuition increases have averaged 3.05% over the past decade. Choate had the most consistent rate of tuition increase—lowest volatility—among its peers over the last 15 years
A stronger endowment is the most powerful way to counter our current dependence on tuition increases as a means to balance the budget.

Funding Opportunity: Sustainability

Goal: To amplify our position as a recognized leader in environmental sustainability
In our existing buildings and residences, we aim to install fuel-efficient utilities, replace roofs with solar tile, and incentivize community members to make environmentally conscious consumer decisions
For new construction, we are committed to building to LEED Platinum standards
We will build infrastructure to decrease water consumption and usage of chemicals and fossil fuels
