Alumni Participate in Alan Jay Lerner '36 Centennial Tributes

Two productions on Broadway and Off-Broadway, celebrating the centennial of librettist and lyricist Alan Jay Lerner '36, have Choate connections. Tony-nominated actress Lauren Ambrose '96 appears in the role of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady at The Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center through October 23. Tony-nominated actor Stephen Bogardus '72 appeared in the role of Dr. Mark Bruckner in the Irish Repertory Theatre's production of On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. In June, The Irish Repertory Theatre held an Alan Jay Lerner Centennial Celebration at Town Hall and The New York Public Library held a free concert in late August. Lerner was born on August 31, 1918.
In his lifetime, the Tony-Award lyricist and his collaborators brought 21 productions to Broadway.
