This week, members of the Class of 2021 took turns signing a steel beam to be used in the Hill House renovations. The beam will support the weight of the roof at the fourth floor on the west side. Hill House is home to dormitories, faculty residences, college counseling, faculty spaces and meeting spaces. It also provides access to the dining hall, Andrew Mellon Library, and St. John Hall.
The building's restorations progress after sustaining significant fire and water damage caused by a lightning strike in July 2019. This summer, the colonnade was removed to expand the building's north end before pathway reconstruction begins. The restoration is designed by Bowie Gridley Architects of Washington, D.C.
Hill House is projected to open Fall 2021.
