Members of the Class of 2016 celebrated the completion of the steel framework for the new St. John Hall Student Center on Monday, May 9. Headmaster Alex Curtis and Dean of Students James Stanley led the signing of the 10'x28'x4" beam on the three-story, 37,500-square-foot building designed by Bowie Gridley Architects of Washington, D.C. The new student center, which hopes to earn LEED Gold certification, will offer the Choate community a variety of activities in one location in the heart of the campus. Shepard Steel, a structural steel supplier from Hartford, CT, is the vendor for the project. St. John Hall will open in Spring 2017.
