Advisers

From day one, your adviser gets to know you as your authentic, full, brilliant self. They are there to keep track of your academic progress alongside you, AND your total well-being. You can count on them.

Prefects 

Upperclassmen trained to support their peers, Prefects live experience Choate alongside you, offering everyday friendship as well as handy advice and leadership.  

Mentors, coaches, & deans

A wide network of adults, always close by. Whether you’re facing a tough assignment, need some hype to go out for varsity try-outs, or are tackling a new role, their guidance is just around the corner.  

My adviser has been a consistent source of wisdom and comfort, especially during times of uncertainty. Having someone who understands both the academic and personal sides of this experience has made a huge difference for me. – Liana ’28

A Day in the Life

  • 7:30 a.m.
Good morning! ☀️

Boarding: Wake up in the dorm to the sound of a hallway already buzzing–a quick breakfast with dormmates before your first class.

Day: Arrive on campus with time to spare–grab coffee at Lanphier Cafe, catching up with friends before the day begins.

  • 8:15 a.m.
🅰 Block

Morning classes in full swing–small group seminar discussion, engaged classmates, faculty who know your name.

  • 9:35 a.m.
School Meeting

Some mornings mean another class; others bring the whole School together for School Meeting–a shared moment that makes a big campus feel close together.

  • 11:05 a.m.
Lunch 

Classes continue, staggered around lunch–so no matter your schedule, there's a window to reconnect with friends over a meal. (And on Taco Tuesday?! Can it get any better?

  • 2:15 p.m.
🅳 Block

The academic day winds down. Some students head to a final class, others to wellness programming built right into the schedule.

  • 3:50 p.m.
Athletics, Clubs, and Activities

The afternoon opens up: athletics, Wallingford hang, or a club meeting, depending on the day.

Dinner

Boarding: Dinner at Hill House Dining Hall—the day's real crossroads, where teams, clubs, and friend groups overlap. 

  • 8:00 p.m.
Study Hours

Study hours in the dorm, the library, or with friends–structured and supportive.

  • 9:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Wind down 🌛

Boarding: Common room hangouts, Prefect check-ins, lights-out routines that feel like home. 

Day: Head home for the evening, check in with family, and the day's momentum is still with you.
