We look forward to reviewing your application materials. Early submission is important as space for programs and classes is limited. The instructions below are designed to guide you through the online application process for each specific program.

Current Choate students and students applying for Choate Admission for the upcoming fall should follow the application instructions at the bottom of this page.

 

On Campus Programs & Service and Society

Application Instructions:

Step One – Complete the Online Application

  • Applicants must submit a 250-300 word Personal Statement. Statements may be composed in a word processing program and then copied into the Personal Statement field. If additional time is required to complete the essay, applicants may indicate that they will submit their statement at a later date via email. The form will not submit if the field is left blank.
  • An application fee of $75 is required and is payable by credit card or check. The application fee for international students is $100.
 

Step Two – Submit Recommendations

  • Complete the Teacher and School Official Recommendation Request Form. Once you submit the application, you will receive an email with a link to the Recommendation Request Form. Note: some programs have specific requirements for teacher recommendations. Instructions are outlined on the recommendation forms.
 

Step Three – Submit a Transcript

  • Request a transcript with the applicant's current courses and grades to be sent directly to Choate Summer Programs.
 

Step Four – Submit a Graded Essay

  • Provide a recent graded essay – preferably from an English or Humanities course.
 

International Applicants

Depending on grade level, non-native speakers of English must enroll in either middle school or high school ELI if they do not score an 80 or above on an Internet-based TOEFL or TOEFL Junior.

  • Applicants for middle school ELI must have at least 2 years of English in their home schools.
  • Applicants for high school ELI must have at least 3 years of English in their home schools.

Young Artists Summer Program

Application Instructions

The Young Artists Programs in Theater and Visual Arts is geared for children in grades K-6. Half-day and full day programs are available. To apply for the Young Artists program, complete the following steps:

  • Complete the Online Application (available in February 2019)
    Applicants for Summer Programs must submit a 250-300 word Personal Statement. Statements may be composed in a word processing program and then copied into the Personal Statement field. If additional time is required to complete the essay, applicants may indicate that they will submit their statement at a later date via email. The form will not submit if the field is left blank.

Current Choate students are exempt from the Summer Programs application fee and should choose the Current Choate Student option on the Application Fee Payment screen.

Application Process for Current Choate Students & Applicants

Students who are either current Choate students or applicants for Choate admission for the upcoming fall are not required to submit supplemental materials. To apply for any summer program, complete the following steps:

  • Complete the Online Application
    Applicants for Summer Programs must submit a 250-300 word Personal Statement. Statements may be composed in a word processing program and then copied into the Personal Statement field. If additional time is required to complete the essay, applicants may indicate that they will submit their statement at a later date via email. The form will not submit if the field is left blank.

     

  • Current Choate students are exempt from the Summer Programs application fee and should choose the Current Choate Student option on the Application Fee Payment screen.
