This course is one of three required courses in the JFK ‘35 Institute in Government Program.
The New York Times and other national and international newspapers serve as a lens through which students analyze how different groups influence American public policy. Students use current events to dive into some of the inner workings on Capitol Hill and to prepare to speak with current policymakers at the end of the course via Zoom.
Students begin with the basics of public policy, dive into current events to better understand how public policy shapes the day-to-day experiences of individual citizens, and discuss how public policy represents the key components of our political system at work.
