This course is an introduction to Calculus, starting with a quick review of functions and then moving on to cover limits, the derivative, differentiation rules and techniques, and, time permitting, applications of the derivative. Students learn how to find limits of a function and use the concept of the limit to find the slope of the tangent line to a curve at a point. After work with the definition of the derivative, students go on to find rules for the derivatives of many functions and the various techniques of differentiation. If time permits, the course ends with applications of differentiation such as related rates and optimization.
Prerequisite: Precalculus or its equivalent.
Note: This course is not intended to replace a full year study of Calculus.
